Answering Hard Questions In Hard Times
September 14, 2025 Preacher: Dr Gary Cass Series: Stand Alone
Topic: Tragedy Scripture: 1 Thessalonians 4:13–18, Romans 8:28–37, Philippians 1:1–30
This sermon addresses the deep pain and confusion many are experiencing in the wake of tragedy and loss—including the shocking assassination of Charlie Kirk, the ongoing reality of violence in our world, and the daily battles Christians face.
Through Scripture, we explore three essential questions:
-
Is it proper for Christians to grieve?
– God calls us to grieve with hope, knowing that death is not the end for those in Christ. -
Why did God allow this to happen?
– The problem of evil is answered at the cross: Christ is sovereign, even over suffering. -
What should we do now?
– Like Paul, we are called to live courageously, proclaiming the Gospel, standing firm in faith, and living with eternal perspective.
This message draws from 1 Thessalonians, Job, Romans 8, Philippians 1, and Psalm 2 to remind us that Christ reigns, death is defeated, and God’s people must rise with boldness in the face of trials.
